  1. Lauren Ayers Says:

The current trend in child protection efforts, which involves legislation to restrict predator access to children, seems to have little impact on the largely stable rates of sex crimes against kids. A more promising approach is to change the climate of vulnerability so that the probability of crime declines. An example of climate change: organizations which enforce a “two-deep” rule (a child is never alone with one adult, a second adult is always present) sharply limit the likelihood of sex crimes against kids.

  2. Ken Says:

I remember when they adopted the two-deep rule in Boy Scouts. When I went to go hang out with my friends after I turned 18 and they were still 16 and 17, I got in trouble. Needless to say I think that rule is completely bogus and ridiculous and over-zealous. BUT… changing the climate is still something we should aspire to – there are just more practical and sensible ways.

  3. henry Says:

Good point Lauren..Two-deep rule will go a long way in eliminating the likelihood of sex related offenses against kids.

  4. Liame Says:

It is indeed a very bright move on the part of Myspace to take security measures against the rampage caused by pedophiles throughout the online fraternity. However, the modern laws still leave a lot to be desired.!

the cop soliciting the 13 year old is perhaps the worst bit of news ever….i mean come on…aren’t the cops supposed to protect us…? what happened to that…? if cops resort to these things…..then how can we even dream of stopping the other offenders….? this is insane…
