PC Pandora’s SAFE SCHOOLS (Revisited)

A couple of years ago we started our SAFE SCHOOLS program, where we make donations of PC Pandora computer monitoring software available to schools who need a tool to monitor student online activity. The size of the donation is based upon the number of students and student-accessed computers, and we never turn down a school’s request.

We have decided to revisit the program and do a meticulous methodical offering (once again) to every school district in the country! We have started with ‘A’ and will work our way through ‘W’… So Alabama, you’re first.

I have posted the email that I am sending to district superintendents and technology directors. If you hold either position, or are looking for help online for someone in the position, or just simply have stumbled on this site and think your school district can use the software, please contact us. Let us help you keep your students safe online…

Dear Superintendent,
I am the Director of Public Outreach for Pandora Corp., makers of PC Pandora – a software program specifically designed to help parents monitor their child’s online activities. We have been featured across the nation on many TV and news programs, and we have helped many parents save their children from cyber bullying and other forms of victimization – and we’ve been told by many parents that things are even worse out there than we thought.

Your time is valuable, so I will get right to the point: Through our SAFE SCHOOLS program, were we offer free copies of our software to schools across the nation. There’s no charge (now or ever) and no catch. Our company founders simply insist that we “give back” to communities in the best way we can, and that’s by helping keep kids safe.

Here’s the scoop:
At Pandora Corp., we fully recognize two truths: the need to keep students safe while online at school, and the limited resources and funding of the education system. We want to cover both bases with our
SAFE SCHOOLS program.

Our monitoring software, PC Pandora, is a desktop application designed to give parents and teachers the ability to monitor and control PC activity by children, even when they can’t be present. In addition to basic filtering and blocking functions, the program will keep an accurate record of all actions on the PC via screen capture. The software enables school administrators to:
• Make sure no adults are trying to solicit students online
• Curtain cyberbullying
• Stop illegal file sharing
• Obtain a visual record of everything that happens on school-owned PCs
• Prevent students from accessing inappropriate websites or block them entirely from sites like MySpace and YouTube
• Prevent time wasters (like video games and social networking sites)
• Show teachers and administrators what websites children go to, how they spend their time online and how they represent themselves and their schools in the web community

We can donate up to $100,000 [$10,000 for private/charter schools] worth of PC Pandora computer monitoring software to your school district to help keep your students safe online. That’s enough to cover over 1000 computers, but we’ll tailor your needs to our program. Of course, an appointed technical advisor should be available to ensure smooth communication between your staff and Pandora Corp. to maximize the program’s effectiveness.

What we ask:
All we’d like in return is that you use the opportunity to address Internet safety with both parents and students in your district/school. It is an important issue that must not be overlooked. We also reserve the right to 1) make our donation known to local media and 2) list your school on our website as a
SAFE SCHOOLS participant.

Extra credit:
In addition to the giveaway, we can offer you a fundraising opportunity. If you hold any internet safety nights for parents, or simply want to help promote the software, we can provide you with a unique code that will allow parents of your students to purchase the software at a discounted price ($10 off). The code will be tracked and 50% of those sales will be donated to your technology budget to help shoulder the cost of online safety education for parents and students. This could also work well for the local parent organization. But please remember, this is completely optional and absolutely not an obligation to fulfill if you accept a software donation.

You can also visit our PRESS page to see some of the great press we’ve received and some of the strides we have made; you can also read some of my ramblings on Internet Safety on our Pandora’s Blog. And you can always give me a call or shoot me any questions via email.

Thanks for your time. Have a wonderful rest of the school year!
