Just when I thought I’d have nothing to post today, the internet predators in the world don’t let me down!
A 44-year-old girls’ softball coach was arrested for soliciting sex from a 14-year-old girl on MySpace. The girl was a former team member. The girl’s mother alerted authorities to the conversations. Thankfully, she was paying attention.
Here’s another reason you need to watch what your kids do online. The story doesn’t say if the girl told her mom or if the mom just found out about it. But obviously the coach and the girl were close enough to start dabbling in that type of conversation. That’s why you need to know who your kids are talking to and in what context. Girls’ softball coach charged with soliciting sex on MySpace
By News Sentinel staffLOUDON – A girls’ softball coach has been arrested for allegedly trying to solicit sex from a 14-year-old girl on MySpace, according to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.
Donald Zigler, 46, of Vonore, was taken into custody without incident Monday afternoon, said Loudon County Detective Jason Smith. He remains jailed in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
Zigler, who was described as a self-employed construction worker, was active as a volunteer softball coach for the Greenback Parks and Recreation League when the mother of a girl learned that he’d been soliciting her for sexual favors through the popular social networking site.
“The mother brought it to our attention, and I went to the daughter’s MySpace account and found where the comments had been made,” Smith said.
The girl was not on Zigler’s team this year but had been previously.
