The NEW Responsible CyberCitizen Website!
Dave Ballard and Bill Wardell are good friends to us here at PC Pandora… They are the founders of the CyberHood Watch, of which they do a weekly radio show on BlogTalkRadio about all things child safety, emphasizing on the Internet and its many dangers.
They also started a group, and coined a phrase out of it, call Responsible CyberCitizen. It is exactly as it sounds; just like in real-life how we must all respect each other and get along, so too we must do so online.
The anonymity and hiding places the internet affords is used by many with ill intent. It is our job as parents to erase that line of real and virtual worlds and teach our kids that the internet is just like real life, and so when you participate in that world, you have to be responsible, accountable and civil to others. You also have to take measures of safety like you would in real life.
For instance, you wouldn’t walk down a dark alley flashing jewels with hundred-dollar-bills hanging out of your pockets; so on the internet, don’t give out details that would allow someone to compromise an online account you have where banking and credit card information is stored.
It’s such an easy concept. So simple it makes everyone say “well, duh.” …So then, why is it that not everyone practices?

Also, the guys have started a new thing called “Reaper”… it’s like their own twitter where everyone can participate in short messages in one common place. Sort of like a forum or a mini-blog, the Reaper I am hoping will gain momentum and be a fun place for people to share stories, news and tips.
