Wacky Internet Predator Wednesday NUMBER 50!!!

The big 50th installment of this weekly blog post should show parents that really there are people out there that want to take advantage of your child in a sexual way; many have succeeded, some have been caught and many more continue about their business every day!

Remember, for 50 weeks now (at least) I have given you the stories from around the country that show internet predators being busted. So the next time you hear someone say these threats are blown out o proportion, send them here… I have 50 blog posts full of multiple arrests to show them of threats that are indeed real.

And remember, PC Pandora will let you know if your child is talking to someone who may be a predator. Remember, your kid is a kid. They aren’t going to tell you when they are taking risks. And if you are turning your head, you are letting the predators win.

It’s as simple as that. You may as well open your door and put a sign on your law saying “perverts welcome!”

Here’s a summary of the 6 guys caught this past week. Detailed stories and links follow.

Man accused in teen sex tapes makes court appearance
Richard Chaney met girls online, prosecutors say…
By Andrew Galvin, The Orange County Register

A man accused of videotaping himself having sex with two teenage girls – one of whom was unconscious – appeared in court Friday but did not enter a plea, prosecutors said.

Richard Alan Chaney, 23, of Costa Mesa met the first girl, a 14-year-old from Texas, on the webcam based Internet site Stickam.com, according to prosecutors. On June 30, 2008, he is accused of meeting the girl while she was visiting family in California. Chaney picked the girl up at 4 a.m. after she sneaked out the house where she was staying and had sex with her in his car, prosecutors said.

On June 2, 2009, the girl’s mother called investigators with the Orange County Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (OC SAFE) team to report that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by Chaney, prosecutors said.

On June 5, 2009, OC SAFE investigators searched Chaney’s home and found several homemade videos and webcam images depicting him performing sex acts on and with the Texas girl, prosecutors said. Investigators later identified a second girl from one of the videos.

The second girl, a 17-year-old, met Chaney online at MySpace.com or Stickam.com, prosecutors said. Chaney is accused of sexually assaulting the second girl while she was unconscious, prosecutors said.

Chaney appeared Friday at Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach, but his arraignment was postponed until July 10.

With respect to the 14-year-old, Chaney is charged with one felony count each of unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation on a minor under 16, and contacting a child with the intent to distribute pornography to a minor.

With respect to the 17-year-old, he is charged with rape of an unconscious person, sexual penetration by foreign object of an unconscious person, and oral copulation of an unconscious person, prosecutors said.

OC SAFE is a multiagency task force that includes the Orange County District Attorney’s Office bureau of investigation, the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The task force aims to prevent Internet crimes against children by targeting online predators and those who possess, produce or distribute child pornography.

Chaney is being held on $500,000 bail.

Police: Man Preyed On Teen Girls On MySpace
Mims Man Arrested For Soliciting Girls For Pornographic Images

MIMS, Fla. — On Friday, police arrested with a man they consider a MySpace menace for preying on teenage girls — and police said they got a helping hand from a 13-year-old.

Investigators said a Mims husband and father plotted to get naked pictures of teenage girls online by hiding behind a made-up MySpace profile. Detectives said they are just thankful that a perceptive 13-year-old foiled his plans.

“As a mother, I’m disturbed that happened in our neighborhood,” said Mims resident Bobbie McClelland.

Neighbors in Daniel Coyle’s Fawn Lake subdivision said they are disgusted by his arrest.

Investigators said Coyle set up fake MySpace pages under the names “Angie” and “Lina,” where he posed as a teenage girl to gain the trust of other girls. Once he established a conversation, police said he would introduce the girls to a made-up mentor — his real profile, under the name “Dan Da Man.”

“I have a teenage daughter,” McClelland said. “It’s very easy for them to fall into little traps like that.”

Detectives said Dan Da Man would then ask the girls to pose in provocative positions and perform sex acts and then send him the pornographic pictures and videos.

A 13-year-old Palm Bay girl said she felt uneasy about the conversations and told her mother, who called law enforcement.

“I’m very happy the girl was comfortable enough to come forward and say something about it,” McClelland said.

On Coyle’s MySpace page, the Walgreen’s manager boasts that he’s married with three daughters — one is a teenager. He has 667 MySpace friends, and many are young girls. That’s why investigators said they fear there could be even more victims out there.

“I always check her MySpace, and I’m her friend so I can view all her pictures and all her comments,” McClelland said of her daughter. “It’s the rule if she wants to be on it.”

Investigators are also talking with a 16-year-old Brevard County girl, who said Coyle solicited her online. She said she knows teenagers who have actually met up with him.

Four arrested in child predator sting by new task force
By Michelle Hunter, The Times-Picayune

Four men were arrested after a four-day online child predator sting last week by the Louisiana Electronic Crimes Task Force, according to Darin Lake, assistant to the special agent in charge for the Secret Service’s New Orleans Office. The task force, comprised of several local law enforcement agencies, handles cyber crimes including hacking, identity theft and child pornography, according to Lake.

Several individual agencies such as the Kenner Police Department and the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office already tackle online predators. But this is the first foray for the Electronic Crimes Task Force.

“We thought it would be a good idea to join together on the task force to do a bigger sting,” Lake said.

Participants included the State Police, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, Office of the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as well as deputy sheriffs from St. John the Baptist, Tangipahoa and St. Landy’s Parishes.

“We were able to throw a lot more bodies at the problem,” Lake said.

Task force members arrested Jeffery Smith, 41, of Wylie, Texas, Shawn Vincent, 30, of New Orleans; Billy Farmer, 30, of Ponchatoula; and Brandon Thibodeaux, 25, of Houma. All were booked with computer-aided solicitation of a minor, according to Lake.

Warrants have been issued for several more suspects, but Lake would not say how many. For now, the suspects have been booked with state charges, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case for any federal violations.

“This demonstrates that there are people out there preying on minors though the Internet. Parents and kids should take steps to educate themselves on these threats,” Lake said.
