MySpace Monday X

The tenth installment of this weekly series…

Again: I write this weekly post to remind you (parents) that social networking does have its villains. If you are going to let your children be a member and participate in the group, you need to be aware of who else is at the meetings. You have to KNOW who they are associting with and talking to. If you don’t know for sure and aren’t involved in your child’s online life, you are leaving the door open for bad things…

For example, this 21-year-old aspiring entrepreneur made a little business out of hosting parties at empty/abandoned houses. He advertised on MySpace.

Check it out… (Happy Monday!)

SoCal man accused of holding raves at empty homes
The Associated Press

SAN MARCOS, Calif. — A San Diego County man has been accused of breaking into vacant homes to throw paid parties that resulted in thousands of dollars in damage.

Jovan Araujo pleaded not guilty Wednesday to two felony counts each of burglary and vandalism. The 21-year-old San Marcos man remained jailed Thursday.

Fallbrook sheriff’s Detective Jeff Lauhon contends that Araujo and his friends would find secluded million-dollar homes in the north county area that were for sale or in foreclosure.

Prosecutors claim they would set up all-night raves that were advertised on MySpace.

Authorities say teenagers paid $5 each and left some homes trashed, including a Fallbrook residence that had $8,000 in damage.
