Monday MySpace Mania 12

Been awhile since I did this regular themed post. Man, do I have some good ones this week…

For starters, a couple of juvenile delinquents were lucky to get away from security guards at a mall Sears after stealing two watches… then they bragged about it on MySpace!!! What?! Are you serious? Ummm… here’s a tip: when you rob someone or something, don’t publicly brag about it with pictures and gloats!

Second, a burglar is caught after logging into Facebook in the victim’s home and leaving his account open. What an idiot! Are you that addicted to Facebook that in the middle of a robbery you just have to check your page? Wow.

Have a fun read, and please remember, the reason I do these posts is to remind parents that if your child is on a social network, you need to be aware of who else is… if you child went to a party or gathering, wouldn’t you want to know the types of pother folks that would be hanging around with them? Why wouldn’t you want to know who they mingle with online?

And remember, your kids aren’t going to tell you everything – but when it comes to the internet, you need to know! That’s where our PC Pandora monitoring software can help…

Teens brag on Myspace about fleeing ‘crackers,’ stealing watches
By Del Stone Jr.

MARY ESTHER — A 15-year-old boy was busted after bragging on his MySpace page about stealing watches from Sears.

He even posted a photo of him and a sidekick modeling the stolen watches.

On June 11 the two were spotted entering the Sears store at Santa Rosa Mall, where they were surveilled by videocamera approaching a display of watches, leaving the area of camera view with two watches, then returning moments later without the watches.

They then left the store, where they were confronted by a loss-prevention officer. At that point they took off.

Later, a review of their Myspace page showed the defendant and co-defendant displaying watches along with the caption, “Just got done running from dem crackers.” They listed their mood as “savage.”

The time and date stamp on the photo caption was June 11, only an hour after the shoplifting incident.

One of the teens admitted to everything but stealing the watches, which he blamed on his friend. The other teen has been “unavailable for interview,” according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Both are charged with petit theft (retail).

The one teen will appear in court Nov. 12.

Burglar Checks Facebook During Raid, Gets Busted
By Brennon Slattery

“OMG LOLZ brkin into sum1s house!”

That might’ve been the Facebook status update left by Jonathan G. Parker, 19, as he was inside the Martinsburg, West Virginia house he was robbing. Yes, you read that right. Parker was inside the house, checked his Facebook profile, and left his account open on the victim’s computer before fleeing. He was wicked hard to catch.

Parker entered through a bedroom window and ransacked two diamond rings worth more than $3500. The victim’s computer was in the same room as the rings, so maybe after he was through Googling “best escape routes,” Parker bopped onto his Facebook page. The victim also noticed that she and Parker had a mutual friend who later confessed to assisting with the crime.

I understand that Facebook is magically delicious, total HTML crack, but c’mon–you can wait until you get home to see if your Boston friend is making dumplings for dinner again or your Philly pal is watching movies with her cat. Now Parker faces between one and ten years in prison. That’s a long time to go without the glowing allure of Facebook.
