Wacky Internet Predator Wednesday – #71
We have a good round-up today… Here are three more reasons you need to pay attention to what your kids do online. To all the “experts” that say predators aren’t a problem, I say “oh yeah?” 3 times to you!
- A 19-year-old Kentucky man met a 14-year-old girl on MySpace. She ran away with him – VOLUNTARILY – and then he allegedly abused her sexually and wouldn’t let her leave. But remember, she ran away on her own accord. Something tells me she knows what she was getting into…
- A 20-year-old California man used MySpace to meet women he would later drug and rape. Though two victims were over 18, one victim was his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend. All ages aside, he is still an internet predator in every sense of the word.
- A 54-year-old retired California Highway Patrol lieutenant charged with attempting to commit unlawful sex acts in Laguna Beach with a fake 13-year-old girl started trial this week. The sting operation took place a few years ago and involved 13 men total. All but one other have already been sentenced.
Obviously, these are reminders to parents that it is vitally important to be aware of who your child is talking to online. In two of the cases, underage girls/young women voluntarily had sex with older men they met online. Kids are not always innocent… Be a strong parent. Know what you have no clue about with PC Pandora monitoring software…

Man connected to MySpace runaway
State Journal Staff ReportA Bourbon County man has been arrested in connection with a Lawrenceburg teenager who ran away on Sunday.
Kentucky State Police arrested Brian T. Jones, 19, of Paris, at 1 p.m. Tuesday. He’s charged with three counts of second-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor, and one count of kidnapping, a felony.
State police say he met with Chelsey Lane Deshazer, 14, on Sunday after she ran away. They originally met on MySpace, according to a news release from Post 12 in Frankfort.
They met face-to-face for the first time when Deshazer ran away on Sunday.
Trooper Ron Turley said at one point Jones had prevented Deshazer from leaving.
The sexual abuse charge was related to the 5-year age difference between Jones and Deshazer, Turley said.
Jones is lodged without bond at the Bourbon County Detention Center. Police searched his home on East Main Street in Bourbon County.
Deshazer was found at a Shell gas station in Bourbon County on Monday after police received an anonymous tip.
“She was wanting to go back home,” Trooper James Collins previously told The State Journal.

Yorba Linda man charged with drugging, raping women he met on MySpace
By Gerrick D. KennedyA Yorba Linda man charged with drugging and raping at least two women he met on MySpace pleaded not guilty today to three counts of rape, Orange County authorities said.
Jason Ara Erpinar, 20, is charged with two counts of using drugs to commit rape and one count of forcible rape with a sentencing enhancement for sex crimes against multiple victims, the Orange County district attorney’s office said in a statement.
Court records allege Erpinar met an 18-year-old woman on MySpace and contacted her by phone and e-mail, inviting her to a party in March in La Habra. Erpiner allegedly raped her in a bathroom at the party after incapacitating her with a drug, according to the district attorney’s office.
He also is accused of raping a 22-year-old woman in a Newport Beach hotel in March 2008 after meeting her on the website and giving her a date-rape drug. The woman woke up the following day with a cracked tooth and scraped face, prosecutors said.
His third alleged victim was his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend, whom he was accused of raping numerous times between August 2006 and October 2007. Erpinar was charged in 2007 with assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm and battery against a cohabitant.
Erpinar was charged last year with burglary and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing a purse, wallet, computer equipment and video games from a friend’s house in 2008 after he was asked to leave the friend’s party, prosecutors said. He allegedly gave the stolen goods to another friend, prosecutors said.
Erpinar faces a maximum sentence of 45 years to life in prison if convicted. He is being held on $1-million bail. The district attorney’s office is asking the public to help in identifying potential victims.

Retired CHP lieutenant goes on trial in under-age sex case
Carlsbad man allegedly came to Laguna Beach to meet a 13-year-old for sex in 2006, after an Internet meeting arranged by Pervertedjustice.com.
By Cindy FrazierTrial began today in Santa Ana for a retired California Highway Patrol lieutenant charged with attempting to commit unlawful sex acts in Laguna Beach with a fake 13-year-old girl, whom he believed was bonafide, after an online meeting in February 2006.
Twelve other men were also accused in the under-aged sex sting operation that took place in a Laguna Beach apartment. All but one of the other arrestees have been sentenced, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.
Stephen Robert Deck, 54, Carlsbad, is charged with one felony count of attempted lewd acts on a child under 14 and faces a maximum sentence of four years in state prison if convicted, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s office.
Deck is accused of initiating contact and engaging in sexually explicit conversations over the Internet with a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl beginning Feb. 12, 2006. The defendant was actually communicating with an adult citizen volunteer from Perverted-Justice.com, a non-profit organization aimed at ferreting out Internet sexual predators. Over several days, Deck is accused of having numerous online and phone conversations with a woman who told him she was a 13-year-old girl. He is accused of inquiring if the girl liked older men, making graphic sexual statements and sexually suggestive comments about eating pie, and arranging to meet the “victim” in Laguna Beach.
On Feb. 18, 2006, Deck allegedly drove from San Diego County to Laguna Beach with the intention of committing unlawful sexual acts with the fake 13-year-old. When the suspect arrived at the prearranged location, he allegedly had with him several condoms, a digital camera, and key lime pie. He was arrested upon arrival.
The sting was conducted by the Laguna Beach Police Department, Orange County Department of Probation, and Orange County District Attorney’s Office, with help from Perverted-Justice.com.
All but one of the other arrestees was either convicted at trial or pleaded guilty in the case. A warrant was issued in July 2006 for Norindra Say, 37, of Tustin, who fled after making several court appearances, the district attorney’s office stated. Say is one of the 10 Most Wanted fugitives on the Orange County District Attorney’s website at www.orangecountyda.com.

Innocent until proven guilty. I was at the trail. There was no intent on that date in question Feb 18. I do not know if he planned on it later and neither do you. We cannot predict the future. But on that day there was no intent, now lets see how the justice system works. They want to charge him only because he is a police. They want him to get killed in there to show an example of what happens to child molesters when they are cops. He molested no one…The condoms were 2 years old in expired for 2 years…he did not go near her apt. and told her he was sick and nothing would be happening. This is a case of what you call Intrapment. The prosacuter even said if it would have not been a chp they would have let him go. But they wanted to use him for show..There was no intent. I saw the whole trail. And Mr. Decks attorney is not all that. I would fire him and bring in someone with more experience. Good luck Mr. Deck. I hope you get out of this BS. I know you are innocent. I have been following for 4 years….Good luck and god bless you…

The plethora of mistakes in your writing, and your email address, are sort of discrediting you. I still think he had intent when he hopped in the car and drove 45 miles. The jury apparently agrees.
Did you ever think that maybe, being a cop, he was just being cautious in case it wasn’t a little girl on the other end?
Innocent until proven guilty… sure. But I think he was guilty long ago, and he knows it.
I am also very cynical and don’t trust anyone. I don’t trust that a guy who drove almost an hour to meet a young teenage girl, who is a stranger and not a long-lost daughter or relative, was going there just to be friends… Doesn’t make sense on any level.
