HARTFORD — The simple matching of e-mail accounts with Connecticut’s registered sex-offender list has led to nearly 150 offenders being removed from Facebook and MySpace.

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said Connecticut was one of the first states to implement the e-mail registry, and the number of matches “shows the need for stronger vetting and vigilance. We are advising parents about these continuing dangers on social networking sites, which have been (cooperating) with us.”
