As organizing tools, for better or worse, social media sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter can create crowds in hours or minutes.

Central Dauphin East High School witnessed the downside to online organization after a gathering that led to seven teenage girls being charged with rioting was planned on a social networking site, police said.
