Idaho Schools Have No Net Filters?
At first read the story puzzled me, but then I gave it a second thought. A bill moving through the Idaho legislature would require schools to have Internet filters in place. This seems odd. Don’t schools, out of common sense, have filters in place already? Putting something on the books seems silly… it’s kind of one of those unwritten “duh” laws, but I guess even the minute details need to be in stone sometimes.
If this law passes, schools should make sure they really have the proper tools in place to protect kids – as they will now be legally liable for it. That’s where our PC Pandora 6.0 computer monitoring software and The Office Software (theOS) come in – both can be used in classrooms to monitor student activity on school computers, as well as block certain programs and restrict (or ‘allow-only’) certain websites.
