Man Met Lakeland Teen Through MySpace And Sexually Battered Her

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Yet another case of MySpace gone bad… but this one is intriguing.

First, the story is here, Detectives: Man met Lakeland teen through MySpace and sexually battered her, I suggest reading quickly. The gist is that this 39-year-old guy, Richard Gagnon Jr., met a 14-year-old girl through MySpace. They became friends and basically, he drove from the Ft. Lauderdale to the Lakeland area of Florida (a good 4-hour drive) several times over the summer to meet her and have sex with her in a local Motel 6. He would often sexually batter her.

But there’s the curious part – SHE KEPT DOING IT!!! It wasn’t one incident… it was no less than 5 times!

If you haven’t gone to the link yet, please do. LOOK AT THE GUY!!! HOW did any 14-year-old girl meet THIS GUY face to face and go through with it – OVER AND OVER?! And get sexually beaten?

Well, folks, this is just pure insanity. Why do we need to monitor our kids? Because obviously they aren’t adult or mature enough to make sane decisions. Clearly this girl has issues, but beyond that – where were the parents? It’s ridiculous.

This is another fantastic argument FOR monitoring your child’s Internet activity. Don’t give them carte blanche and total freedom. They aren’t smart enough to make the decisions that they come across with the Internet at the fingertips.

Use monitoring software like PC Pandora! You’ll be able to see if your little girl is leaving the house to have sex with and get beaten by an ogre.

Ridiculous.
